No Trespassing in Druid Hills

What part of no trespassing in Druid Hills do “certain” people not get? A recent report from a Druid Hills resident, who although has plenty of signs posting their property under Constitutionally protected NO TRESPASS law, have still encountered issues where some feel they are above the law, or entitled to step foot onto private property. They video recorded the trespass and contacted Teller County Sheriff’s office and reported the perpetrator. The license plate of the vehicle was taken, and it turns out this was a resident of Druid Hills – not just some poor “lost wondering soul”.

Teller County Sheriff’s office enforces No Trespassing laws under the US Constitution, and such trespass can result in charges of a criminal nature. When asked if they would like to press charges, they said no, but they also made sure that this person knew they are being watched and won’t be so lenient in the future. No one holds any implied license or right to come onto private property, not even community association members. Trespassing is a serious crime which can result in serious consequences, and there is absolutely no excuse and ZERO tolerance for it here in Druid Hills.

There is a difference between violating trespass laws and visiting someone you know. This person was video taped crossing through property, unannounced, and without the knowledge or consent of the property owners. Even when it comes to accessing other property, or property for sale, you must contact the owner and/or realtor in order to obtain permission to come onto private property.

A word to the POA and POA “representatives” – if you are going to try and accuse someone of simply visiting neighbor’s homes as “trespassing” then you should take your own advice, and stay off of private land and show respect for resident’s Constitutionally protected rights. Documented statements made during POA meetings have even revealed the intentional disregard for homeowners in the Druid Hills subdivision and their Constitutional rights to protect their properties from unlawful trespassers.
